To enhance the competitiveness of polyester industry in the world, SK Chemicals and Samyang decided to separate polyester industry from their respective entities and established a new company-Huvis Co., Ltd on November 1, 2000 by merging. The scale of the new company has reached the world first-class level, with annual production capacity of polyester long-fiber of 230,000t and polyester short-fiber of 380,000t. Such scale enables the polyester products to be highly competitive in respect of production and sales, raw materials purchase and R&D.

　　 SK Chemicals was established in 1960s, which is parent enterprise and backbone enterprise of SK Group, ranking 3rd in Korea. The businesses of SK Group cover: energy resources, chemical, chemical engineering, chemical fiber, telecommunication, finance, construction, life sciences, international trade, etc. Samyang Corporation was established in 1960, which is the parent company and backbone enterprise of Samyang Group, ranking 20th among the Korea enterprises. The businesses of Samyang Group cover: life sciences, chemical engineering, sugar industry, feedstuff, investment, etc. With a view to take lead in the global polyester industry, the two groups merged into Huvis Co., Ltd. The company has three factories located in Suwon City, Ulsan City and Chonju City. It also has comprehensive research center. The head office of the company is at Seoul. It has branch offices at Taegu City, the city of facing materials of Korea. There are overseas offices in China and Germany.

　　 On November 1, 2000, Korea SK Group, one of the top 500 enterprises in the world, and Samyang Group merged into the largest specialized polyester enterprise in Korea- Korea Huvis Co., Ltd, which not only keeps the traditions and technologies of polyester industry in the past 36 years but also cooperates with the overseas chemical fiber enterprises to share the technology, product, trademark and marketing network. It has become the 5th specialized polyester enterprise in the world, with annual sales volume of 0.8 billion USD.
